Dr. Malka Ungar
General Studies Principal
Dr. Malka Ungar brings with her a wealth of experience in team building, organizational transition, and transformation. She has served as the Director of Education at Torah Academy for Girls Junior High School in Far Rockaway, NY, as well as Director of Education at Torah Day School of Phoenix. Additionally, Dr. Ungar is an adjunct professor at TTI-Daemen College, focusing on training future educators. Dr. Ungar began her educational career teaching a range of grades, specializing in upper and middle school, with a particular focus on sixth grade.

Dr. Ungar’s educational background includes a BS in General and Special Education from Touro College, an MS in Teaching Literacy Birth through Grade 12 from Touro Graduate School of Education, and a PhD in Literacy with a concentration in Leadership from St. John’s Graduate School of Education. Dr. Ungar has also received training from the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project and holds a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Ungar has been warmly welcomed by the Phoenix Hebrew Academy community. She is focused on building a strong partnership between home and school to ensure student success, and has been meeting with parents and collaborating with teachers to create an exceptional learning environment for all students. She is spearheading new curriculum initiatives and working with teachers to maximize existing programs. Dr. Ungar looks forward to continuing to work with the dedicated PHA team to provide an outstanding education for every student.Â
